Venny Mziri Mwainge

Venny Mziri Mwainge, is a research scientist based at KMFRI Kisumu center who is passionate about fish health. Currently, she is engaged in research activities on fish diseases and pathology in both fisheries and aquaculture within the Lake Victoria, Kenya with the emerging cage culture systems in the Lake. She holds a BSc. Fisheries and Aquatic sciences degree from Moi University, Kenya and an MSc. in Aquaculture from Ghent University, Belgium. Venny has been engaged in a variety of projects including Promoting Environmentally, Economically and Socially Sustainable Cage Aquaculture (PESCA) in the African Great Lakes (AGL) region, Illuminating Hidden Harvests (IHH); Country case study on small scale fisheries in Kenya, Enhancing capacity/risk reduction of emerging Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV) to African tilapia aquaculture, the ongoing Aquaculture Business Development Programme (ABDP) among others.
