As a recent graduate from Eldoret University, with a BSc degree in fisheries and aquatic sciences I have actively participated in locally and internationally funded projects in Kenya Marine & Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), a leading organisation for fresh and marine water research activities. This involvement has enabled me to develop not only specific aquatic research experience, but also a valuable and transferable skill set in this fast-paced sector.
In KMFRI, I work as an assistant research officer in Aquaculture department contributing to achievement of Kenya Coastal Development projects (KCDP) – such as the commercial upscaling of seaweed mariculture in southern coast of Kenya and biodiversity assessment of critical coastal habitats. Besides managing my own research and liaising with various divisions through participatory group project meetings I have developed excellent communication skills that can be utilized in developing and maintaining successful working relationships with both internal and external staff.
